UNISOC Launches 5G Mobile Platform T820, a High-Performance 5G SoC with Integrated Secure Element

UNISOC launched its new 5G SoC T820, a mobile platform with Octa-core CPU,6nm EUV process, integrated financial-level security solution, 5G dual-SIM dual-standby capabilities, and high-speed ultra-stable 5G connections. The chip supports a 108-Megapixel high-definition camera, an FHD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate, 4K 60-frame high-definition video recording and playback, high-definition HDR10+, 8 TOPS AI computing power, this platform will enable the continued improvement of 5G capabilities.




Enhanced performance bringing multimedia entertainment experiences


Featuring an Octa-core processor in a three cluster 1+3+4 configuration, T820 consists of a single Arm Cortex-A76 running at 2.7GHz, 3 further A76's running at 2.3GHz, and 4 sets of Arm Cortex-A55's running at 2.1GHz. Compatible with 3MB three-level cache, its performance is further improved. Equipped with an Arm Mali-G57 MC4 GPU, it can run at a frequency of up to 850MHz.


Made with advanced 6nm EUV technology, T820 is able to operate at 40% less power consumption than UNISOC's first-generation 5G mobile platform in certain scenarios under the support of AI regulation techniques. Its LPDDR4X memory and UFS 3.1 flash memory ensure a power-saving design with intelligent real-time temperature regulation. This provides performance support for gaming applications while still maintaining a low level of power consumption.


T820 features AI noise reduction and smart PA power amplifier technologies which ensure enhanced bass and better sound quality of phones, tablets and other mobile devices while providing users with a crystal clear call experience. Particularly, this ensures an increased average volume of the device without breaking the limits of the speaker's capacity. Based on Based on UNISOC's innovative digital audio technology, the T820 can also ensure the quality of professional audio-visual recording by accurately suppressing ambient noise. Voice assistant applications are also better supported by its low-power voice wake-up system.


Integrated financial-level security solution


T820 adopts a trusted execution environment and an independent engine with hardware-based encryption/decryption, which integrates a total solution. This solution integrates the financial level Secure Element into the SoC and provides higher security than embedded SE. It provides a 100% improvement in computing performance and supports computing-intensive security scenarios such as encrypted video calls. It also supports most of crypto algorithms and better scalability and offers a greater storage capacity capable of supporting more than 100 Apps. Thanks to a high degree of integration, T820 significantly reduces the difficulty of PCB design and also lowers the device design and manufacturing costs, providing customers with a more competitive solution.


Enhanced 5G connectivity to solve uplink pain points


In order to greatly improve spectrum utilization rate, UNISOC T820 supports 5G NR TDD+FDD dual-carrier aggregation technology enabling up to 130MHz frequency aggregation to greatly improve 5G network coverage and ensure higher 5G speeds.


T820 is compatible with 4G/5G dynamic spectrum sharing technology, which maximizes the use of existing spectrum resources, benefits 5G co-construction and sharing, and effectively reduces network deployment costs.


With the integration and development of 5G with the Internet of Things, new high-definition video applications (including XR, 4K/8K high-definition live videos, and short videos) are emerging rapidly, placing increasingly higher demand on 5G uplink data rates. Under the support of the innovative full-scenario-covering enhancement technology developed by UNISOC, T820 has increased the uplink throughput of near-point users by 60%, and leveraged network coverage by more than 100%. This breaks through the existing 5G uplink bottleneck, providing advanced technical support for the promotion of multi-channel high-definition monitoring, remote motion control, machine vision and other applications.


Featuring 2G to 5G multi-mode network compatibility, Sub-6GHz SA/NSA, dual-SIM and dual-5G standby, EPS Fall back, high-definition VoNR voice and video calls, and other communication technologies, T820 provides users with a first-class enhanced 5G communication experience.


Creative imagination supported by professional imaging capabilities


T820 features a quad-core ISP architecture combined with UNISOC's sixth-generation Vivimagic image engine, boasting a 100 Megapixel camera and full-pipeline 4K high-definition video recording. Supported by UNISOC's own AI algorithms, it can provide AI noise reduction, AI-HDR, AI-Bokeh, AI FaceID, AI Face Detection services, and a variety of other AI imaging functions.

T820's ISP processing performance can support UHD shooting up to 1.6 billion pixels per second, giving users the flexibility to mix and match different resolutions such as 108MP, 64MP, 50MP, and 48MP. While improving overall performance, the chip also seamlessly controls power consumption and temperature rise.


The most difficult night-time photography involves low light and shooting by starlight. Featuring 14bit RAW processing, a new "heterogeneous image processing engine" architecture, and equipped with dedicated night-time XDR multi-frame and multi-exposure shooting capabilities, T820 is able to restore greater details and provide higher-quality night scene effects.


Outstanding AI capabilities for full-scenario artificial intelligence


T820 features a new-generation, highly efficient NPU+VDSP architecture to vertically optimize computing power, with NPU computing power reaching 8 TOPS. This enables a 67% increase compared to the previous generation, optimizing bandwidth bottlenecks, releasing an extra surge of computing power, and leading the industry in energy efficiency and area efficiency.


Thanks to its brand new AI computing platform, T820 provides a full-stack AI solution that integrates software, hardware, and artificial intelligence algorithms. This technology supports low-bit quantization of model weights values and activations, including 4bit to 8bit, 10bit, 12bit, and 16bit precisions. Featuring access to mainstream industry AI training frameworks and advanced compression technology, T820 is capable of deploying “large models” at the back end. Compatible with 200+ mainstream neural network operators, it also provides a convenient development and debugging environment which is now even more user-friendly.


Featuring AI capabilities in all supported scenarios, T820 is compatible with a variety of applications such as image super resolution, video enhancement, semantic segmentation, object detection, and text recognition to help users easily create their own exclusive AI applications, greatly shorten end-to-end deployment time and improve overall user experiences.




New-generation multi-core display architecture


Equipped with UNISOC's latest generation multi-core display architecture featuring FHD+ at 120Hz refresh rate and QHD+ at 60Hz refresh rate, along with full pipeline, full-format HDR standard rendering capabilities, T820 provides users with deep layered image quality.


T820's multi-screen display can support up to 4K HDR10+ UHD image quality. With dynamic contrast improvement, it provides users with natural, realistic rendering, clear, vivid colors, and a visual display that features an even wider color palette. This significantly enhances the user experience for high-frame rate competitive games, 5G UHD video, XR, and other visually immersive applications.


Featuring innovative screen technologies such as dual-screen extended display and folding mobile device screens, T820 has also expanded the development space for terminal designers to come up with new products based on itself. The chip uses variable refresh rate (VRR) and intelligent resolution switching technology, enabling the display refresh rate on the device to sync intelligently with that within the games, movies, or other contents, providing users with a smooth, high-definition experience, while improving the battery life.
