On June 28, UNISOC's first AI+8K UHD smart display chip platform M6780 made its debut at the MWC Shanghai. This chip platform supports 8K decoding and HDR full format, and has strong AI computing power brought by the high integration of CPU, GPU, NPU, VDSP and ADSP, giving users a more real and smoother UHD audiovisual experience.




Equipped with Arm Mali-G57 4 cores GPU, the UNISOC M6780 integrates Arm Cortex-A76*2 + Arm Cortex-A55*2, and supports H.264/H.265/VP9/AV1/AVS and other mainstream decoding protocols, delivering powerful performance and offering an overwhelming 8K immersion experience.




UHD Color Images, Real and Extraordinary Picture Enjoyment

The UNISOC M6780 chip platform supports the mainstream HDR formats—Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG, and makes use of AI-SR super resolution technology, AI-PQ intelligent image enhancement, and MEMC dynamic compensation technology to create a wonderful visual experience for users.

The UNISOC AI-SR (Super Resolution) algorithm module ensures the details of images and improves the quality of high-resolution images, while enhancing the resolution of the images. Through millions of deep learning training sessions, it simulates the understanding of video creators on the screen contents, and through a comprehensive analysis of the screen details, it appropriately supplements the detail texture required for video amplification, so as to achieve the restoration of low-resolution images to detailed high-definition images. The M6780 supports 36x pixel magnification, which can magnify 720p images to 8K UHD images.




As a traditional TV cannot intelligently identify the scene of the picture, the M6870 uses fixed picture quality parameters. It means that there is a need to balance and compromise each scene and mode to achieve a picture quality experience that can basically meet the needs of users. The M6780 supports AI-PQ (Picture Quality) intelligent recognition of various scenes, frame by frame adjustment of picture brightness, saturation, sharpness and contrast, so as to achieve a more realistic picture effect.




The UNISOC M6780 is equipped with a frame rate conversion module based on MEMC (Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation) technology, offering such features as Cadence detection, logo detection, motion estimation, motion compensation, and halo elimination to obtain continuous and smoothly changing image sequences. It can effectively eliminate picture flutter, motion blur and trailing, and present silky smooth viewing experience for users.

The sound quality is determined by the whole playback link involving codec, sound effects, speakers, structure and room response, and the speaker performance and structural design are the main influencing factors.
